About Me

My photo

Pragmatic, reserved and a deep thinker who loves family, sports especially football where am married to two wives: the first, AC Milan who has my loyalty and the second wife, Manchester United who has all my undying love and pampering, lifestyle and society parties. Need I say the law is more than a profession but a lifestyle for me.

Adekanye Adeyinka Olajide.

I do it for me

As he disconnected the call, he opened the door to his room, had a long, motionless shower for he just stayed there numb until he finally dragged himself out after almost an hour with the warm water splashing over his body and soothing him. He lay on the bed, attempting to think, but his mind was in different places at once preventing a pattern of thinking. Despite being flustered, sleep took hold of him.

It was a few minutes after 10 when he opened his eyes to the world again after the barks of the Rots by his window snapped him to life. He lay lifeless on his bed for another 30 minutes before he decided to go freshen up. He thought to call Ben so they could fix a meeting but first, he needed to look good. He called Ben; they fixed a venue and time.

Unsurprisingly, he met Ben at the venue; he always kept to time but he was a few minutes late. They placed an order after exchange of greetings. It has been a while since they last sat together. The martini arrived and Ken narrated all his dad had told him the previous night. He was constrained and the thought of living indefinitely without his excessive largesse scared him. Suddenly, Ben burst into an uncontrollable laughter. He laughed so much; Ken was beginning to feel uneasy.

He probed, “what is so hilarious about all I’ve said? I am telling you what is driving me crazy and all you can do is laugh. You gotta be kidding me.”
However, Ben just laughed more looking at his friends angry face further stimulated him. Finally, he became organised and said, “I am sorry bro, I thought about something and it cracked me up.”
“What was so amusing that you laughed like some mad man?” he uttered indignantly. “I am here thinking how I will get by and you were laughing rather than give a solution. If you must know I am thinking of going into cyber crime so that I don’t have to depend on my dad no more!”
“Okay, I am sorry. I did not mean to laugh and I was not laughing at you parse. I was just thinking how popular you have become over these past days since the incident happened. The son of the great Chief organised an orgy party that rocked the city only to leave a beautiful girl dead. Hahaha I know it is not the kind of popularity we want but my, you are popular than the president right now.”
Ken joined in the laugh. It was his first after many days. “You are just a mad man.”
“On a serious note, Ken, I think this is a call to a change in our way of living. Why would you want to go into crime when you just got out with a close shave? It is not as if your dad will not give you anything. Now is the time to learn to do things the right way. This is a challenge to turn your story around rather than let it be the stone that sinks you. My honest opinions, when you get home, apologise and change your ways. We can still live the life but nothing stops us from being moderate. We are not getting any younger either. Your dad is right!” said Ben.

“Thanks bro I think I needed that. You are right and I will make amends by doing all you have said. Thanks for being there for me.” Ken felt relieved.

As Ben glanced across the table, he said to Ken quietly, “There is a lady across the table who has been staring at you. You have to go talk to her. She has fixed her gaze on you since you got here and this doesn’t look like a casual flirt.”
Ken muttered. “I am not in the right frame of mind. Besides, she might want you not me. Who knows maybe she has seen my pics on some of those stupid blogs that love to tarnish one’s image?”
Looking at Ken with a straight face, Ben said, “Don’t you trust me, when did you start doubting me? Give it a shot at least.”
“Okay, I will. Lemme finish my drink. He downed the content in the cup at once.” Reluctantly, Ken stood up and approached the lady’s table who was sitting alone and there was no doubt she was a classic with a wondrous beauty.
He courteously asked “May I take the seat next to you?”
“You are free.” Was her response.

Time went by and Ben could see his friend was having a great time as their laughter filled the air. Indeed, the happy times were here again! At least for the moment, he could breathe again.
