BENEFITS OF THE MORINGA PLANT.

The Moringa Oleifera plant is a South Asian cosmopolitan tree that grows near the Himalaya Mountains from north-west to north India. It belongs to the family of Moringaceae. This tree is a uniquely nutritious vegetable tree with so many potential uses. The plant has since grown in other parts of the tropical world and grows well within one year of planting.

The Moringa tree is slender with drooping branches, which grows rapidly even in poor soils. It is well adapted to tough conditions and can reach up to 4-5metres or more in height. It produces dry fruits that are triangular.

Moringa Oleifera can be used for cooking, manufacturing, agro-forestry, as well as in improving the immunity of human.

Every part of the moringa plant is useful even to its roots, which are said to depress the central nervous system.

Its seeds’ are reported to be sources of high quality protein, oil, and antioxidant compound. In addition, unsaturated fatty acids especially oleic acid, carbohydrate, and minerals are present in the seed in reasonable amount. The seed is also used in the treatment of water.

Similarly, the leaves are highly nourishing and are a substantial source of beta carotene, vitamin c, protein, potassium, calcium and phosphorous. The leaves when used in its vegetable form, helps in boosting the immune system and a major sedatives. It is also a useful plant for keeping the liver healthy.


The leaves of the moringa plant can be eaten fresh or cooked as vegetables in soup. The leaves of Moringa plant when dried under shade, crushed into powder can be used in soups or used in making herbal tea – a very rich source of vitamins: A, C, B-complex, E, K, and foliate, biotin, as well as magnesium, selenium, among others. It also has all the amino acids.

Moringa leaves are used world over as nutritional supplements as it contains certain amount of vitamins and mineral salts.

The leaves when made, as tea in the right dose, are useful even to lactating and pregnant women as it is rich in nutritional extract.

In general, the Moringa Oleifera plant is an incredible source of nutritional supplements and a huge immune booster to combat diseases and prevent infections.
